Tesamorelin is a synthetic 44-amino acid polypeptide analog of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), modified at the N-terminus with a trans-3-hexenoic acid group for enhanced enzymatic stability and prolonged activity compared to endogenous GHRH.
Tesamorelin binds to and activates GHRH receptors on pituitary somatotroph cells, stimulating the pulsatile release of endogenous growth hormone (GH), which in turn elevates insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) levels and influences downstream metabolic pathways.
